Nijmegen, 10 April 2012 - Last month, HHCE decided to support the unique Museumpark Orientalis, in Heilig Landstichting near Nijmegen. HHCE will be providing translations for the museum free of charge during the upcoming season.
Museumpark Orientalis has just come through a difficult period. In December 2011, it seemed as if this unique museum would have to close its doors forever. Fortunately, former director Jan van Laarhoven stepped up to act as interim director in February. He is donating his services to get the struggling museum back on its feet. A small group of staff has now also got to work and, all being well, the museum will be opening its doors again on 5 May 2012.
“Orientalis is a great museum that we at HHCE have been working with for years now. When the museum decided in February to make a new start after all, we knew straight away that we wanted to help out,” explains Elsbeth Rooker, Senior Partner at HHCE. “I am really impressed by the massive efforts being put in at the museum, largely with the help of volunteers, and I am delighted that HHCE can contribute towards this new start.”
Museumpark Orientalis, which is celebrating its 101st anniversary this year, is a unique museum. It would be a real shame if Nijmegen, an area visited by many tourists, were to lose this special attraction. HHCE supports several local cultural initiatives of varying sizes. “We have made a conscious decision to do this, since a wide cultural offering reinforces the area's image,” explains Elsbeth Rooker. “We do not actually expect anything in return. For us, associating our name with these initiatives and therefore making a modest contribution to our area's cultural activities is enough.”
